One of the “perks” of the technological age that I’m getting more and more addicted to is to do my grocery shopping online and have it delivered directly to my house. It’s a huge time-saver and also lets you avoid the “fun” of loading the car with groceries, unloading the car, and carrying them all inside. Gone will be the days when our mothers would come back from a trip to the supermarket and honk the horn to let us know to come out and help unload. When I moved to Jordan I went back to the “old school” way of food shopping until I found there’s actually a grocery app that serves Amman – basket.jo. You can order directly on their desktop/mobile versions, or using their iOS and Android apps.
To put it simply, basket has an Uber-like model. They connect you to your Dedicated Personal Shopper who receives the order and rushes to the store to shop and deliver directly to you.

Delivery
Time
Delivery takes approximately 1 hour (depending on numbers of ordered items). In a rush? You can also choose to upgrade to express one hour delivery for an additional 1 JD.
Fees
Delivery fee is 4.99 if the order is above 25 JD and 5.99 if the order is below 25. If you’re a frequent shopper, you can get unlimited deliveries for as low as 17.99 per month.
Who Delivers
When you place an order a personal shopper is assigned to your order and shops on your behalf, handpicking everything.
Basket’s personal shoppers are independent freelance contractors. They train them and give them the shopper app that allows them to receive and fulfill orders. You as the customer can rate your shopper at the end of the experience.

I always carry my own eco-friendly bag with me when I go shopping to avoid using plastic bags. Whenever you order from basket, your groceries will be delivered in a reusable cloth bag.
