This past weekend we had visitors and wanted to show them a bit more of Jordan outside of Amman. We decided to drive to Ajloun, about 1 hour 15 minutes North of Amman. The drive is very beautiful and you get to see a much greener side of Jordan.
Our day itinerary with a 3 year old and a 6 year old was perfect. We left Amman around 12:30 noon and made it back by 6 pm. We didn’t stop to eat, but rather just took snacks for the car. If you want to eat along the way, I recommend Dar Ne’meh: https://maps.app.goo.gl/wE4rVHSc7FP11peC6
Teleferic Ajloun

Our first stop was the Teleferic Ajloun (Ajloun Cable Cars). We went on a Saturday in October and there was absolutely no wait. Previously we had tried to go during Eid and we decided it was not worth it because the line was out the front gate. The property around the teleferic has a small souk with various activities for kids, restaurants, and is surprisingly quite clean. The ride itself is stunning and takes about 20 minutes to complete. You can see Palestine and on a clear day, even the sea of Galilee. You have the option to get off at the other side of the mountain and there are other activities there like a small ATV course.

Ajloun Castle

If you keep your car parked in the free lot across from the teleferic entrance, you can walk 400 meters up the road to the entrance of the Ajloun Castle. The castle dates back to the 12th century and is in quite good condition and has stunning 360 degree views. It was perfect for our kids to run around and their favorite part were seeing the cannon balls and catapults.
